Free InBody Scan in London: Book Your Complimentary Body Composition Test

We are running free InBody scans at our Finchley Road studio until 30 September. A free InBody scan London locals can actually use: a full body composition test, plus twenty minutes with a coach going through what the numbers mean and, just as importantly, which of them to ignore.

No charge, no obligation, and no sales pitch dressed up as an assessment. If you want coaching afterwards we will tell you what that looks like. If you do not, you keep the data and the explanation.

What you actually get

A scan on its own is a printout. What makes it useful is somebody who can read it honestly.

  • A full body composition scan on our InBody 270. Skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, body fat percentage, total body water, BMI, and a five-segment breakdown of lean mass.
  • A coach-led walkthrough. What each number means for you, what a realistic change actually looks like across two to three months, and which figures on the sheet are not worth your attention.
  • Your baseline waist and height measurement, taken properly, so you have the one metric national guidance actually recommends alongside it.
  • A written copy of your results to keep, whether or not you ever train with us.

Thirty minutes, start to finish.

Why we are giving these away

Two honest reasons.

The first is that a scan is the best possible introduction to how we work. We are a coached and measured gym rather than a swipe-in one, and the fastest way to understand the difference is to sit down with someone who can interpret your own numbers in front of you.

The second is that most people training in London have no baseline at all. They are working from bodyweight, which combines fat, muscle, glycogen and water into a single number that answers none of the questions they are actually asking. Thirty minutes fixes that, and the thirty minutes costs us less than the guesswork costs you.

What we will tell you that most places will not

This is the part that matters, and it is why the walkthrough is worth more than the scan.

Bioimpedance devices are useful and they are routinely oversold. Against DEXA, the reference method, body fat readings run a few percentage points low: in the one study of the model we run, it read 24.6% body fat against DXA’s 27.7% in 88 adults (Garcia JR et al., Journal of Exercise and Nutrition, 2020). NICE guidance is explicit that bioimpedance should not be used as a substitute for BMI.

We will also tell you what is not on your sheet, because plenty of providers talk about numbers this model does not produce. There is no visceral fat figure, so nobody can read your cardiometabolic risk off it, and total adiposity comes from body fat percentage, BMI and waist-to-height ratio instead. There is no segmental fat, so it cannot tell you where you carry fat. And with two measurement frequencies rather than three or six, it cannot report a hydration ratio, so it cannot tell fluid retention apart from a real change in lean tissue. That last one is why we are fussy about the conditions you are scanned in.

What it does give you, and what most walkthroughs skip, is a five-segment breakdown of lean mass, which is a good way to spot a left-to-right or upper-to-lower imbalance worth training around, and a history of your last 10 tests, which is the part that eventually answers your actual question. We rescan clients every three to four weeks, so a full history strip is roughly thirty weeks of trend on a single sheet. That line is the evidence. The gap between your last two scans is not, because a three-week gap sits inside the measurement error.

What the device is genuinely good at is tracking change under standardised conditions. That is the job, and that is what we will show you how to use it for. Anything under roughly 1.5 to 2 kg of change sits inside the measurement noise, as does any body fat shift under roughly 2 to 3 percentage points, so if anyone ever tells you a scan shows you gained 0.4 kg of muscle this month, they are reading an error bar and calling it progress.

We go through the whole picture in our guide to losing fat without losing muscle, and the full accuracy detail is in is an InBody scan accurate.

Who this is for

  • Anyone training consistently who cannot tell whether it is working.
  • Anyone whose weight has stalled while their clothes are still changing, or the reverse.
  • Anyone losing weight quickly who wants to know what they are actually losing.
  • Anyone who has never had a baseline and is tired of guessing.

You do not need to be a member, a client, or fit. Turning up is the entire qualification.

How to prepare

The scan is only as good as the conditions, and these take no effort:

  • Come fasted, or at least three hours after eating.
  • No fluid immediately beforehand, and empty your bladder before you arrive.
  • No training, sauna or hot bath for eight to twelve hours before.
  • No alcohol for 24 hours.
  • Wear light clothing. You will be barefoot on the plate.

If you break one of these it is not a disaster, it just means the reading is a percentage point or two off. Since that is roughly the size of a month of real progress, it is worth getting right, and it matters even more for your second scan than your first.

The terms, stated plainly

  • The scan and the results walkthrough are completely free, with nothing to pay and no card required.
  • Available until 30 September 2026. Slots run Monday to Friday, 1pm to 5pm, and there are a limited number of them.
  • One per person. You must be 18 or over.
  • There is no obligation to buy anything. We will explain what coaching involves if you ask, and leave it there if you do not.
  • Your scan results are health data. We will ask for your explicit consent to store them, you can withdraw it at any time, and we will not use your results in any marketing without asking you separately and in writing.
  • This is a fitness assessment, not a medical one.

This is general information, not medical advice. A body composition scan is not a health screening and does not diagnose anything. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant, have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, are taking any prescribed medication, or have a history of disordered eating, speak to your GP before booking. People with pacemakers or similar implanted devices should not use bioimpedance scanners.

Frequently asked questions

Is the InBody scan really free?
Yes. No charge, no card details, no obligation to buy anything afterwards. The offer runs until 30 September 2026, one per person, for over-18s.

How long does it take?
Thirty minutes. The scan itself takes a couple of minutes; the rest is a coach going through the results with you.

Do I need to be a member?
No. It is open to anyone, member or not.

How accurate is an InBody scan?
Useful for tracking change, less reliable for a single absolute number. In the one study of the model we use against DXA, body fat read about 3.1 percentage points low in 88 adults (Garcia 2020). There is no visceral fat figure on this model at all, so any quoted to you came from somewhere else. We explain all of this on the day, and in more detail in our guide to scan accuracy.

What should I do before my scan?
Come fasted or three hours after food, avoid fluid immediately beforehand, skip training and alcohol the day before, and empty your bladder before you arrive.

How often should I be rescanned?
Every three to four weeks is a good interval for accountability, but judge progress on the trend across two to three months rather than on any single gap between scans. Frequent scanning is worth doing because it builds the history strip on your sheet, which holds your last 10 tests.

Can I book if I have a pacemaker?
Bioimpedance is not suitable for people with pacemakers or similar implanted electronic devices. Speak to your GP first, and we can take waist and height measurements instead.

What happens to my results?
You get a copy to keep. We store them only with your explicit consent, and never use them in marketing without asking you separately.
